our was mini-van was smashed at the back.. it took 4 days before the car insurance company rented us a car. then after 4 days, a came from the company took a look at our mini-van and told us it might be totaled. then after 2 days, the car insurance called and said they will pay for the totaled car $2,500!!! the cost to repair is $2,700. Pedestrian was hit by my car while crossing a road located within a private property (a community college) in Brampton, Ontario (Canada) 2. I was in no position to clearly see the pedestrian in advance as the pedestrian suddenly appeared from behind the huge pile of snow on the side of the road. The pedestrian was walking from the parking lot and came onto the road from a blind spot. 3. I was driving at 30kms/hrs and saw the pedestrian just before I hit the pedestrian. 4. The pedestrian was NOT using the designated pedestrian crosswalk but was jaywalking on the road in attempt to cross the road. 5. I applied brakes as soon as I saw the pedestrian on my way but the pedestrian got hit by the time finished applying the breaks. I think my car came in contact with the pedestrian when the car had almost stopped possibly causing the minimum impact. Pedestrian seemed to be all right (not injured) but was slightly in pain due to the hit as my car hit her in the thigh. She did not fall down and was still able to walk (but was crying due to the shock) 6. I called 911 (both cops and ambulance) and they didnt charge me with offence. 7. The Police Officer concluded that it was not my fault after he confirmed with the witnesses that I actually tried to stop the car and that the pedestrian was jaywalking and not using the pedestrian walk for cross the road. The cop mentioned that I would have been charged if I were not driving on a private property. The building security also concluded that I was not at fault. 8. The police accident report makes no mention of my fault. 9. The paramedics concluded that pedestrian was not injured and was all right but they took her to the hospital anyway (for check up since the pedestrian seemed to have some pain in the thigh) My question is Although, I was not ticketed or charged, would MY INSURANCE GO UP? I have heard that Insurance companies are notorious and would hold you responsible anyways or may hold you partially at fault?

Well money is tight right now and I'm shopping around for a new auto insurance. I live in CA and so far the cheapest one I've found is Mercury insurance. I was playing around with the different personal criteria having fun wondering if having a different profession or having a college degree would change the premium. I found one option significantly changed the price and that was if I selected a different location where I principally garaged my car. The premium changed by about $200 for a year of coverage. It was based on zip code and I put the one that I used while I was in college which is in northern CA but I m in southern CA. I drive a 98 Chevy Suburban, because it has a lien holder (bank) it has had full coverage insurance the life of the loan. Next month when we get our tax refund we plan to pay it off, not that much owed. Due to it's age wouldn't it be logical to drop the full coverage down to liability insurance. My car was stolen and now I'm being investigated for insurance fraud. I'm only 18, help!!?

My car was stolen on Saturday. I was driving in the car with someone I thought I could trust and when I went inside a subway terminal to meet another friend I left the keys in the car and the person who was in the car with me took off with the car, my phone, my purse, and about $1500 worth of shopping bags and boxed furniture that I had just bought from Ikea. I called the police and they aren't doing much help. I've had to investigate a lot of this myself. The person who took my car doesn't have permanent housing so its been hard to track him down. I found out from the cops he has 4 other warrants out for his arrest for crimes relating to cars. Obviously, I didn't know that when I left him alone with mine. After my dad filed a claim to our insurance company, they said they were going to begin an investigation and sent us a letter saying it was within their rights not to give us any money for the car. They think me and the person who stole the car are working together to get money off of them. Their going to interview me and I'm really scared. The last time I broke the law was when I was five and tried to steal a barbie from Walgreens. I'm only 18 now and I don't even know how insurance or fraud work, never mind insurance fraud. They're going to accuse me. They only thing I'm really guilty of is being stupid/ naive/ gullible. I trusted a person who I should not have trusted. My questions are: 1) How can I track down this person? I sent a messege on Facebook to all of our mutual friends telling them to keep an eye out. 2) How can I move the investigation from the police (who are on my side) along, when they aren't really doing anything? 3) What am I supposed to tell the insurance guy? What should I say? I just want my car back. I feel so helpless, please help.

I'm really confused about health insurance. My mom has been qualified for health insurance through Covered California and premium assistance, but I do not qualify for premium tax credits, enhanced silver plan because I am not a member of primary tax filer's tax household. It also tell me there can be only one primary tax filer per application and if I don't claimed as someone's tax dependent, I may apply again as an individual. So my question is what does that mean? Can I just reapply as a dependent of my mother? Info about me is that I am 19 yrs. old, half-time student, unemployed, non-smoker and currently have pre-existing conditions. I'm also currently on 4 prescribed medications. It says I am eligible for coverage through Medi-cal program. The doctors I am seeing currently do not accept Medi-cal. I know a lot of doctors do not accept it because they don't get paid and I can only see certain doctors in the county or something. I do not want medi-cal. This leads to the main question is Can I just apply to a private health insurance myself w/o going through Covered California because their website isn't helpful and I have been on hold for about a hour to ask questions? and Doesn't the Affordable Care Act (obamacare) now has a law that insurance companies cannot decline/reject you if you have pre-existing conditions? Because he's a full time student, I can carry my son under my health insurance plan until he's 23. The problem is he'll be a full time undergrad until a few months shy of his 24th birthday. Can my car insurance still charge me for a car I do not have anymore?

I'm confused. I no longer have this car, it got vandalised and written off. It says in my contract I can cancel I did but they have taken out another payment I haven't had the car since October 22nd Not only that in they said to me I they will take out the remaining payments from the cheque they pay me from my car, it doesn't say this in the contract so why do I have to do it? Why should I pay for a car I no longer have? And why do I have to pay my voluntary and compulsory excess if someone damaged my car and it has been reported to police and on going investigation?
